Itinerary
ItineraryDay 01 - Arrive / DelhiArrive at New Delhi airport in the morning & meet our representative, will assist you till hotel and discuss tour briefly.
Day 02 - Delhi /Bagdogra/ KalimpongFly to Bagdogra, the gateway to the Eastern Himalaya, and ascend through the foothills to Kalimpong, known as the “flower city” for its wild and cultivated orchids, poppies, camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons. The remainder of the day is at leisure to settle in to your hotel and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Day 03 - Kalimpong/GangtokAfter breakfast, set out to see the city’s highlights, including the Zang-Dhok Palri Phodang Monastery and its debating hall. Also visit the flower nursery and the local market. This afternoon depart for Gangtok Day 04 - GangtokThis morning, explore the Do-drul Chorten, the Flower Complex, Enchey Monastery and the lively market. After lunch, travel just outside the city to Rumtek, the largest monastery in Sikkim and the seat of His Holiness, Stop at the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology on the way back to Gangtok. Tonight, enjoy a private dinner of regional specialties and an exclusive performance of traditional folk dances such as Bhutia, Lepcha and Yak forms. Day 05 - Gangtok/DarjeelingTravel by four-wheel-drive vehicle to Darjeeling. At an elevation of 7,000 feet, Darjeeling was once the cooling summer escape for the British Raj in Bengal, and remains a popular resort town to this day. The town is a picturesque mosaic of English cottages, tea gardens, rice fields and dense forests. Darjeeling clings to a crescent-shaped slope and overlooks awe-inspiring views of the valley below and the snow-capped Himalaya rising overhead. Day 06 - DarjeelingRise early this morning and travel to Tiger Hill to see the sun rise over Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak in the world. On a clear day, sightings of Mount Everest, Lotshe and Makalu are possible. Visit Ghoom Monastery, home to the Gelukpa (yellow hat) Buddhist sect. This afternoon, ride the famous Toy Train and visit the world’s second-highest railway station, part of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pass green valleys and whispering pine forests in the shadow of snow-clad Kanchenjunga. Day 07 - DarjeelingThis morning, visit the the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and the city’s small but bustling market during a tour of Darjeeling. After lunch, take part in a thangka painting workshop at a Tibetan refugee self-help center. Later, explore a lovely tea estate and gardens to learn about Darjeeling tea, the mainstay of the local economy that is responsible for employing 50 percent of the district’s people. Join fellow travellers for a farewell dinner tonight. Day 08 - Darjeeling/Bagdogra/DelhiMorning drive to Bagdogra to board Delhi flight, meeting & assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel
Day 09 - Delhi / Home CountryEmbark on a half day of exploration of Old & New Delhi. Highlights include the Jama Masjid, the most important mosque in India; Chandni Chowk bazaar will show you more colours on your rickshaw ride. Visit Qutub Minar, the highest tower in India, and Humayun’s Tomb, an early example of Mughal architecture. |
