The Central India region of Chattisgarh and Bastar is a land of unsurpassed natural beauty and dense tropical forests. Since time immemorial pristine tribal societies have created and sustained delicate rhythms of life in harmony with nature in this region . On coming to this land, one gets an exhilarating sense of coming into something wondrous and untouched. The journey takes us through these regions before going on to East Indian state or Orissa and the world heritage monument of Konark’s sun temple. Some f the important tribes you will encounter will be the Gonds, Baighas, Horn Murias, The Kondhs, Parajas, and the Gadabas. Basically most tribes live of the land but are very different in their customs & traditions. Highlights of the tour include visits to local “Haats” and some villages and famous Chitrakote Falls. You’ll find yourself in some another world by visiting these places, one side India is economically getting shape on world map & another side these people doesn’t have proper meals to eat.
Note – you can start this tour from Delhi & we can add Taj Mahal visit also, if you want to take extension, Sikkim & Bhutan is the good options.
Itinerary
ItineraryDay 01 - Wedensday Mumbai – Raipur – Kawardha
Arrive at Mumbai airport in the morning & meet our representative, will assist you till Domestic airport for onward flight to Raipur and discuss tour briefly. Day 02 - Thursday KawardhaVisit of the Bhaiga Tribal Group at their village in the morning time.Back to the Palace. After Lunch visit to the Chilpi Weekly market of the Bhaiga people. Overnight at Palace Kawardha Day 03 - Friday Kawardha – Raipur
130kms/3hrs drive Day 04 - Saturday Raipur - Jagdalpur
Morning Excursion to the Sirpur Site (80kms/2hrs drive) of the Buddhist & Hindu Temples
Excavated sites. Day 05 - Sunday Jagdalpur
Morning visit to the Kanger Valley National Park & Anthropology Museum at Jagdalpur. Day 06 - Monday Jagdalpur
Visit of the villages of Muria Group. Enjoy the dance at one of the villages. Visit the Weekly
market at Tokpal. Back to hotel for Late Lunch. Evening drive to Chitrakoot Water Falls to
enjoy sun set at this Falls known as Mini Niagra of India. Day 07 - Tuesday Jagdalpur – Kotpad – Koraput – Rayagada
This is a nice day drive visiting Kotpad weavers watching them working on the Fabrics used
with Cow Dung, Caster oil & Roots of the Jungle tree for dying. 50kms/01hr drive. Day 08 - Wednesday Rayagada – Chatikona – Rayagada – Jeypore
An early departure for Chatikona to see the Dongariya Kondh ‘haat’ (tribal market).
(50kms/01hr drive). From 34 villages in the Niyamagiri Hills, the people come down to
trade at this weekly market. The women wear simple white raw cotton sarees, their hair full
of colourful hair clips, aluminum rings around their necks and three gold nose rings. The
shawls that women wear and embroider with traditional motifs play a very important role in
their society. Day 09 - Thursday Jeypore – Onukudelli Bonda market - Jeypore
A very early morning departure for Onukudeli to see the weekly market of the Bonda,
Gadaba and Didaye tribals. The Bonda women often have shaved heads, wear lots of
aluminum rings around their necks. Colourful beads modestly cover the upper body while a
‘kerang’ (a small piece of cloth) is worn around the waist. In the afternoon we visit a
Gadaba village with its mud houses and thatched roofs and where we have a special
opportunity to see their traditional ‘dhemsa’ (dance). Day 10 - Friday Jeypore – Kunduli – Rayagada After a Leisurely breakfast, we leave for Kunduli (60kms/2hrs drive) , the Biggest Paraja
Group’s weekly market
on Friday. Paraja Group is the most advanced group among all the Tribal groups of Orissa.
They live in the plane land & practice Agriculture. Their Livelihood is earned with Daily
Labour work, Agriculture & Jungle collections. Day 11 - Saturday Rayagada – Taptapani - Gopalpur Morning after a leisurely breakfast leave for Gopalpur (225kms/7-8hrs drive) on the way
with the Stops at the Desia Kondh villages, Interesting Photo stops which is very common
on these roads & at Hot Sulphur Spring Shrine of the Saura people. Saura Group people
believe that due to some Miracle power of the Goddess Durga, this Hot water is coming out
of the Anger of mother Goddess. So, the Shrine is built to please her. One can see various
rituals happening in this shrine during the travel by chance. Day12 - Sunday Gopalpur – Barkul on Chilika Lake – BhubaneshwarDrive to Barkul on Chilika Lake, the Largest Brackish water lake of India, place for the
Migratory Birds from Austrailia & Syberia during Winter from December to April. There are
many Islands in this 1100sqr Km Lake & one of the Island has got the Kalijai Temple which
is worth visit. 100kms/2hrs drive. Day 13 - Monday BhubaneshwarVisit of Udaigiri & Khandagiri Caves in the morning.
Later on visit Parasurameshwar, Mukteshwar & Rajarani Temples.
Visit of Lingaraj Temple (from the Platform). Day14 - Tuesday Bhubaneshwar – Puri – Konark - BhubaneshwarFull day excursion to Puri & KOnark on the way visiting 64 Yogini Temple, Dhauli Peace
pagoda & Pipli Applique work village. Day 15 - Wednesday Bhubaneshwar – MumbaiIn time transfer to airport for onward flight to Mumbai, meetings & assistance on arrival at airport by your guide and continue to visit city of Bollywood, Gateway of India, fish market, Mani bhawan. Day 16 – Thursday – Mumbai / Home CountryIn the morning transfer to International airport to board home country flight with, Incredible India’s memory. |
